2023 marks twenty years when I began my “retirement career transition” as a docent with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco https://www.famsf.org/. Not too far into my new career I discovered a professional network which would become invaluable for enabling me and my colleagues to be abreast of the latest and greatest docent practices, the National Docent Symposium Council (NDSC.)

Convinced of the value and benefits of the NDSC, I became co-chair of the 2013 National Docent Symposium. Our Fine Arts Museums and their docents hosted docents representing 139 institutions across North America. I continued to promote and serve the NDSC as Vice President, President, and Advisor. Our cultural institutions and the docents who serve them are in a time of great transition and change. There is no better time to get connected through the NDSC.
