The National Docent Symposium will be held at the Intercontinental Kansas City at the Plaza hotel. The hotel location is within walking distance of the famous Country Club Plaza shopping, dining and entertainment area, and a 15 to 20-minute walk to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Click HERE for hotel Details. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day. The hotel does have an outdoor swimming pool, but unfortunately the pool will be closed during symposium dates. (The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.)

Ground Transportation in Kansas City

Positioned in the Heart of America, Kansas City’s central location is easily accessible by interstates and other highways, and is just a quick flight from just about anywhere in the U.S. And once you arrive, everything is easily accessible by car, taxi and bus.

A 2.2 mile free streetcar runs through the city, and many popular attractions are a short walk from the line. The closest place to catch the streetcar is at Union Station. Union Station is a 15 minute drive from the hotel. A cab or Uber costs about $15.00 from the hotel to Union Station. If you are adventuresome and like taking public transportation, there is a bus stop a few blocks from the hotel. The hotel does not have shuttle service.

Around the Region of Kansas City

Amazing experiences are available to NDS2022 participants on both the Kansas and Missouri sides of State Line Road. Here are a few of the opportunities that will present to you Kansas City at its finest.

Orientation Tip: Kansas City straddles the line between Missouri and Kansas, sometimes causing visitors to wonder which state they are in. You’re not alone! Here’s some help. If you are west of State Line Road, you are in Kansas. If you are east of it, you are in Missouri.

See Kansas City in a Single Day

Some of the best that Kansas City has to offer can be experienced in a single day – special sights, sounds and tastes, of course. There’s no shortage of unique shops and restaurants worth visiting in the City of Fountains. Did you know that Kansas City has more working fountains than any city, even more than Rome? When the vision for our city was forming, those who had the vision wanted to have more boulevards than Paris and more fountains than Rome.
