Sustained to Sustainer: Creative Organizational Self-Funding
Learn how San Antonio Museum of Art docents paired with another nonprofit to create a program of music, food, and drink to raise funds to support their respective outreach programs. This presentation will be especially relevant to docent organizations that receive limited financial support from their institutions. It will include details about the program's evolution, specific fund-supported activities, community impact, and enhanced docent esprit de corps.

Docents as Fundraisers: From Initiators to Collaborators
The Docents at the Taft Museum of Art have been actively involved in fundraising for eighteen consecutive years. Fundraising began as an effort to provide money for docents to attend docent symposiums, and grew to such an extent that significant funds became available to also assist with on-site and off-site educational programs. Recently, these docent-driven events were combined with Board of Trustees and staff events to increase funding. Docents provide significant leadership to the combined events and their purpose for fundraising has been retained. How these events were organized and implemented will be discussed.

Docents Select: The Second Time Around (Docent-Curated Exhibition)
Inspired by the Huntington Museum of Art's docents at the 2011 Docent Symposium, the Yellowstone Art Museum docents petitioned their Director of Education to clear the way for them to create their own exhibition. Join us for an interactive and fast-paced project that will have concrete results. Participants will be asked to create an innovative exhibition from supplied materials in the time allotted. This exhibition will be the catalyst for a discussion of the rewards and pitfalls of working with different departments in any museum, and of how a docent committee can use a museum's collection storage software to design and implement an exhibition.

The FAMSF Community Speakers Program (CSP)
The CSP takes the museum’s treasures beyond its walls, offering insightful and entertaining lectures about the permanent collections and current special exhibitions. These docent-lecturers travel to a variety of venues, from libraries and community centers to private clubs and senior residences. Workshop participants will learn how to establish and maintain a lecture program, including auditing presentations, advertising and promotion, and lecture fee schedules.
