Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, Montana
Inspired by the Huntington Museum of Art's docents at the 2011 Docent Symposium, the Yellowstone Art Museum docents petitioned their Director of Education to clear the way for them to create their own exhibition. Join us for an interactive and fast-paced project that will have concrete results. Participants will be asked to create an innovative exhibition from supplied materials in the time allotted. This exhibition will be the catalyst for a discussion of the rewards and pitfalls of working with different departments in any museum, and of how a docent committee can use a museum's collection storage software to design and implement an exhibition.
Presenters: Linda Ewert, Director of Education and docent (10 years); Linda Snider, docent (fourteen years) and Docents Present Committee member; Karen Fried, docent (ten years) and; Docents Present Committee member; Mary Beth Helgeson, docent (three years; attended the Saint Louis Docent Symposium and has returned to champion the "Docents Present" project)
