The National Docent Symposium Council (NDSC), is the only national docent organization providing a platform for docents and guides for education and exchange of ideas since the first docent symposium in 1981, which has continued to the present. The NDSC website www.nationaldocents.org and the National Docents Forum, a closed Facebook group enable continuous collaboration. The 2017 revision of the Docent Handbook published by the NDSC is a respected education resource and reference for docents and guides at all types and sizes of cultural institutions. The NDSC Board of Directors consists of docent/guide leadership from across the United States and Canada who work voluntarily toward the NDSC mission to promote continuous improvement in docent and guide practice.
Your gift is tax-deductible (US taxpayers) to the extent allowable by law and supports the NDSC ongoing and future efforts on behalf of ALL docents and guides.
The NDSC Education Grants are awarded to first time attendees of the National Docent Symposium to cover the registration fee. By awarding the grants, the Council promotes symposium attendance by docents/guides who might not otherwise be able to attend, and seeks to broaden and diversify the number of museums, galleries, and cultural institutions that will send docents/guides to future symposia. Creating opportunities for docents and guides to learn, share and connect
We are privileged to have supported the docent and guide community for the past four decades. You can help us continue to be a go-to resource for new ideas, continuing education and peer exchange. As a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization, every dollar you give goes towards sustaining and expanding our programs.
